So you’ve bought a new guitar? Whether you’re just learning, or a veteran, you need your guitar playing to the best of its ability.
For the price of what many repair shops will charge for a guitar setup why not learn to do it yourself? Let MG-GUITARS give you the skills to make your guitar play great. We will teach you:
• How your guitar works
• How to assess what (if anything) needs to be done, and when to seek advice
• How to correctly restring your guitar
• Adjusting the truss rod (neck relief)
• Nut assessment / action adjustment (action over teh 1st
fret)
• String action adjustment (action at the 12th fret - bridge adjustment)
• Setting the intonation (saddles)
• Pickup height adjustment (pole piece height)
Just bring your guitar along with a new set of strings and away we go!
Ever fancied learning how to build your own guitar? There are plenty of kits on the market, some better than others, but nowhere to go for tuition on assembly, finishing and achieving your goal of producing an instrument to be proud of.
New for 2015, MG-GUITARS is offering a two-day BYO Workshop in which you get to build and take away your own guitar or bass assembled from quality components (not a cheap kit). With the number of workshop places limited to seven, MG Guitars will take you through the steps to assemble a classic T-Type (tele-style) guitar or a P or J-Type bass. You can choose from one of MG Guitars Wudtone™ finished bodies (in a colour of your choosing), or create a hand-rubbed wax finish yourself during the workshop.
Day 1 - You will have hands on experience of
constructing a guitar or bass with a classic bolt on neck.
You will have the opportunity to create a quality finish to the
body.
Day 2 – You will learn the finer points of achieving a playable instrument and setup your guitar/bass yourself. This will involve assessing the playing action for yourself - from the nut to the bridge, and learn how to make adjustments to the neck relief, string height and intonation. By the end of Day 2 you will have assembled and setup a high quality instrument – that is uniquely yours!
Pre-requisits: You don’t need to have wood work or electrical skills – just some basic dexterity with regular tools. You may get to do some simple soldering – but that’s it. As far as tools are concerned, MG-GUITARS will provide basic tools and a table-top ‘work bench’. Again nothing that you can’t replicate at home. Advice will be given on the best tools for each job.
Guitar Specification
You will build a classic T-Type or
P or J-Type bass guitar using
GuitarBuildUK™ or Mighty Mite™ bodies made out of Swamp Ash or
Alder. Bodies will be finished with Briwax™ finishing

Wudtone™ finished body in a colour of your own choosing.
Subject to availability and at additional cost, you may also be
able to select a guitar body (non-tremolo) from MG-GUITARS 'private
stock' - see
FOR SALE. Guitars and basses will have Canadian Rock Maple and
